Me2MD Cardiology Journey

Dealing with a heart valve problem at 36

Mitral Valve Disease Coronary Angiogram

Newly-wed whose fingers were blue

Globally, mitral valve disease cause 35,700 deaths a year and their prevalence are increasing [1]. Mitral Valve Disease is highly treatable but requires careful diagnostics and timely intervention. We came across such a case where the patient, a 36-year-old newlywed had been diagnosed recently.

We took on the case and identified a cardiologist who strangely enough asked the patient to take a picture of his hands. His fingers were blue!

Our cardiologist recommended patient carry out a Coronary Angiogram. On basis of the result of the Angiogram, the cardiologist recommended aortic valve replacement. The patient has scheduled the surgery at one of the leading hospitals in Mumbai.

We continue to remain engaged with the patient. Hopefully, a bouquet of flowers from us will find its way to his bedside soon.
